St.Bees beach cushion cover, ‘Maybe the Tide is Turning’

I have recently completed this cushion cover on pre-washed linen. It was made from a sketch made on the spot sitting on the promenade bench at St.Bees in Cumbria UK. I grew up in the village and the beach has always been central to me. I love to go there and draw whether the tide is in or out it doesn’t matter. I had no water to dilute my Quink ink so had to get some sea water and the waves nearly got me as I tried. I had two containers and one was lost to the sea. I managed to get some in the other one though. A reminder that the sea is alive and unpredictable always. I drew with a fine liner on the linen for the cushion and added diluted, and not so dilute Quink. Then I stitched in into different areas that seemed to want me to. The rest is up to you!
